The Jacobs Jewellers Emerging Designer Competition, held annually in Reading, United Kingdom, is considered one of the most prominent platforms for recognizing and empowering emerging designers and silversmiths in the fields of silverware and jewelry. The competition is organized through a strategic partnership bringing together Reading’s oldest independent jewelry retailer, Jacobs the Jewellers, the prestigious Bishopsland Educational Trust for silversmith training, alongside The Goldsmiths' Centre and HS Walsh, a leading supplier of jewelry-making equipment.

The competition aims to hone participants' commercial skills by giving them real-world experience in designing luxury pieces and showcasing them to the public and retail clients across two categories: Jewelry and Silverware. A specialized panel of judges, alongside public voting, evaluates the entries presented both in-store and online.

The ninth edition, held in August 2023, saw broad participation with over 1,200 votes cast. It concluded with designer Revan Abdulsabour winning first place in the Silverware category for her silver bookmark, "Iqraa". Winners received funding for craftsmanship equipment and formal certificates of excellence to support them in establishing their independent workshops.

Industry Hackathon SIDF

Designer Revan Abdalsaboor achieved an outstanding milestone by winning third place in the Design Track at the 4th edition of the Industry Hackathon, organized by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF) under the theme "Your Idea Creats". This win came in collaboration with L'azurde Jewelry, where her submission stood out as the only winning collection in the jewelry category, presenting an artistic vision that merges the depth of Saudi heritage with contemporary design possibilities.

Revan drew inspiration for her collection from rich historical roots, embodied in two unique designs:

First Design: Inspired by the wall carvings of garlands and grape clusters found in the ancient village of Thaj.
Second Design: Reflects the geometric top view and architectural layout of the ancient village of Al-Faw.
The pieces were crafted using traditional fine silversmithing and coated in gold, mirroring the antique jewelry discovered in excavations at Al-Faw Village—seamlessly combining historical authenticity with modern manufacturing precision.
